When Advanced Aromatics (Baytown, TX) was established in 1983, it was after its 16-acre site had been used for years as a styrene finishing plant and for contract processing. What president Peter Buenz brought to the facility was a focus on aromatic solvents and petroleum-based naphthalene rather than coal tar-based naphthalene production. The company's sales reached $22 million last year.
