NAVAIR seeking to upgrade AN/AAR-47. (Naval Air Systems Command; missile approach warning system sensors and software)

The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) plans to issue a request for proposals (RFP) for the upgrade of AN/AAR-47 Missile Approach Warning System sensors and software. The plan is to add laser warning and to increase the temperature sensitivity of the system's optics. NAVAIR has received expressions of interest from 13 vendors, including the current manufacturers of the AN/AAR-47, Lockheed Martin IR Imaging Systems (Lexington, MA) and Alliant Defense Electronic Systems (Clearwater, FL).
