FOR years, those mini dolmens dotting the landscape have been a symbol of the visitors the Burren attracted.

Yesterday there were as many as 400 admiring replicas of the stone tables on the West coast.

Today, however, there are none.

Flattened on the orders of officials who said they were nothing more than 'environmental vandalism', the stones have been returned to the limestone floor from which they came.
