Pres Bill Clinton praised Japanese Prime Minister Ryutaro Hashimoto's economic policies. He stressed the importance of a healthy Japanese economy to Asia and the US. He exchanged views with Hashimoto on various topics ranging from the Japanese economic recovery plan to the political crisis in Indonesia, the nuclear weapons proliferation in South Asia, the tax cut in Japan and the death of singer Frank Sinatra.
