GREEN ISLAND -- Students from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute will try to re-create Robert Fulton's famous voyage up the Hudson River next week.

But the students will be using hydrogen power instead of the steam power that Fulton used when he piloted the Clermont from New York City to Albany 200 years ago.

The New Clermont, as it is being called, will launch from Pier 84 in Manhattan on Monday. Using two hydrogen-powered fuel cells on loan from Plug Power Inc. in Latham, the students hope to make it to Troy by Sept. 25 for Troy Night Out.
