Tarragon Turns to 'White Knight' Marathon for $1.1 Billion Merger.

Calgary-based Tarragon Oil and Gas Ltd., which announced a US$1.1 billion cash-and-stock merger agreement with Marathon Oil Co. late Friday, sought out the company as a "white knight" to fend off two other unsolicited offers, company officials reported Monday.
