Christopher Ransom bolted awake in a panic. He felt immobile after having a nightmare about feeling the presence of another person in the bedroom of his Mineral Point home.
It was spring 2005. Ransom and his wife, Pia Gandt, lived in a Victorian home that served as a birthing house for pregnant women in the early 1900s. Before Ransom's nightmare, the home's previous owner had showed them photos of the stone-faced patients from its early incarnation.
