A proposal calling for full communion between the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and the Episcopal Church was put back on track with the April 9 release of "Called to Common Mission: A Lutheran Proposal for a Revision of the Concordat of Agreement." The original concordat was overwhelmingly approved by last summer's General Convention of the Episcopal Church but failed, by only six votes, to receive the required two-thirds majority in the ELCA Churchwide Assembly.
The rejection threatened to nullify years of ecumenical work between the two denominations. ...
