Virginia Woolf eschewed overt discussion of sexual activity or desire in 'Jacob's Room' while directing the reader to notice the gap left behind by this censorship. This refusal to detail the sexual education of Jacob in the story can be seen as a satirical reaction to Edwardian prudery.
