The Federal Trade Commission's (FTC) "Red Flags" Rules, on which NACM has worked diligently to inform trade creditors of their responsibilities under the regulation, has had the date for mandatory compliance pushed back for the second time. The rules went into effect January 1, 2008, but the date by which all affected companies must have in place a written program to recognize and mitigate identity theft has been pushed back to August 1, 2009.
