The question of whether Adam and Eve had navels continues to plague fundamentalists and nonfundamentalists alike. This question poses a problem to the accuracy of the Bible, particularly Genesis. The same is true of the Earth's geologic history and past histories of living things. A book by the British zoologist Philip Henry Goose entitled 'Omphalos: An Attempt to Unite the Geological Knot' is discussed.
