The role of the moroki, the male praise-singer, in the community of Sabon Zonga in Accra, Ghana, shows consideration to women's organizations even in an Islamic community which traditionally separates the world of men and women. The maroki is considered an ungendered actor and regards women as equal to men in their role as his patrons. Sabon Zonga is a 'stranger community' primarily of Hausa.
