Coping with faculty resistance to teaching critical thinking.

The term "critical thinking" frequently appears in educational literature; however, the concept and its importance are not widely accepted by teachers. Most educational textbooks cover content but do not stimulate critical thinking. Resistance by facility members can be overcome with proactive strategies that encourage teaching critical thinking by establishing the context of a teacher-student alliance and establishing faculty discussion groups to lead teachers in their development of this technique.
