WASHINGTON _ Using new tools to scour the heavens, astronomers have found fresh evidence that baby solar systems might be forming in cosmic nurseries around three stars in our Milky Way galaxy.
Newborn planets or comets appear to be gouging holes in huge clouds of dust surrounding the stars, three separate teams of astronomers announced Tuesday.
These clouds, known as planetary disks, are believed to be the ``birth rooms'' for planets, said Michael Werner, senior research scientist at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif.
