If you asked a group of radiologic technologists to demonstrate ulna deviation, you'd probably see them move the hand in a variety of different directions before deciding on the final position. This uncertainty or inconsistency has bothered me for my entire career.
After I graduated, an orthopedic surgeon asked for a wrist series including ulna deviation. No problem, I thought, I know how to do that. I completed the series and handed it to him. "Wrong!" I was told. "Repeat it, and this time turn the hand the other way.".
