Public libraries need to increase their funding, invest in more librarians, maintain print and data collections, and continue to reach out to all members of society in order to fulfill an unchanging historical mission in the midst of the information age. Librarians should continue to educate themselves throughout their careers. Partnering with the private sector may provide necessary funds to expand a library's technological resources.
