Quality-adjusted price indexes, newly developed by the Bureau of Economic Analysis, show a better price performance for semiconductors from 1974 to 1976 than do standard indexes which may be biased. Quality-adjusted indexes show a faster export and import growth for the period. The Bureau developed the indexes for seven types of integrated circuits and two types of microprocessors.
