The Foreign Corrupt Practices Act prohibits American enterprises and individuals from making direct or indirect corrupt payments or bribes to obtain or retain business with foreign companies or governments. Penalties for violating the act include fines up to $250,000 and imprisonment for up to five years or both. Thus, companies are required to develop compliance programs to avoid violations of the law. The programs should be created in partnership with security personnel.

Creating a STRONG COMPLIANCE PROGRAM is one way corporations can avoid violating the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
