Increased sensitivity to changes in visual feedback with practice.

Participants in a motor learning experiment receiving greater practice without on-line visual feedback showed a decrease in performance. Participants receiving lesser practice and still no visual feedback did not show comparable decrements. The study determined that not all sensations find their way into skill.

Knowledge of results and motor learning - implications for physical therapy. (movement science series) (includes extensive bibliography on motor learning)
Physical Therapy ; The acquisition of motor skills is fundamental to human life. The ability of a person to acquire with practice or experience the proficiency to execute coordinated motor actions enables that person to have a wide range of human experiences. These experiences may range from grasping a cup after the
The manipulation of vision during powerlift squat: exploring the boundaries of the specificity of learning hypothesis.
Research Quarterly for Exercise and Sport ; The available information for controlling a multidegree-of-freedom sport action was manipulated in 2 experiments. In the first, 10 intermediate lifters were participants; for the second, 8 skilled and 8 less skilled lifters were observed. Three single repetitions of a powerlift squat were performed
Schema theory (1975): retrospectives and prospectives.(Special Topics)
Research Quarterly for Exercise and Sport ; A brief commentary is provided on the theoretical assumptions, scholarly impact and continuing influence of the schema theory of motor learning (Schmidt, 1975). The traditional contrasts of schema theory to the coordinative structure ordynamical systems framework are reemphasized, and limitations
A computer software prototype for monitoring Speech Motor Learning performance in (childhood) apraxia of speech (technical report).
Journal of Medical Speech - Language Pathology ; Many treatment programs incorporate principles of motor learning when working with individuals with motor speech disorders (e.g., childhood apraxia of speech, adult apraxia of speech). These principles often involve practice and include accurate, repetitive, random, and distributed practice. When
A practice-specificity-based model of arousal for achieving peak performance.
Journal of Motor Behavior ; ABSTRACT. The authors propose a practice-specificity-based model of arousal for achieving peak performance. The study included 37 healthy male physical education students whom they randomly assigned to a high-arousal (n = 19) or low-arousal group (n = 18). To manipulate participants' level of
