30 JUNE 2009 PAPEETE (Pacnews) ----- A French Polynesian politician who wants to maintain ties to France, says Mondays autonomy day will bring together the pro-autonomy political parties which have been squabbling for several years, reports Radio New Zealand International .
The Rautahi leader Jean-Christophe Bouissou said 29 June is important in French Polynesia because it remembers the day when Polynesia became a French possession in 1880.
Mr Bouissou said the celebrations mark the relationship with France.
