The German Constitutional Court ruled, on 30 June in Karlsruhe, that the Lisbon Treaty is compatible with the country's basic law but it calls for promulgation of a law guaranteeing the rights of the national parliament. The new law could be adopted in early September, just before the legislative elections. In the meantime, the ratification process remains suspended.
