A study was conducted to show and analyze the patterns and correlations of self-help groups in the US. The results indicate that more than 25 million Americans are estimated to have participated in a self-help group. Although majority of these self-help groups focus on various life problems, more than one third of the participants are involved in groups for substance use problems.
