Pioneering blues harmonica player Junior Wells, who helped define the Chicago sound, recently died at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago after a four-month battle with lymphoma. He was 63.
Wells, born Amos Blackmore, was known for his unique harmonica style and musical sense of adventure. The Memphis native influenced generations of blues harmonica players and helped shape the Chicago blues sound.
