Georges Perec's experimentations with language and form reveal an interest in the relationship between utopia and autobiography. His autobiographical novel, 'W ou le souvenir d'enfence,' or 'W or the Memory of Childhood,' used parallel texts of his remembered visits as a child to concentration camp sites and the oppressive fate of women and children in the novel to show how an ordered state becomes twisted into a nightmarish dystopian reflection.
