Recent studies of Restoration and 18th-century literature are divided into two main bodies. One category focuses on the formalist considerations of literary novels through the appropriation of the language of both feminist and cultural studies and the other category focuses on the interpretations of literary texts and practices through the material culture of the period and within the parameters of that material culture.
