Pres Bill Clinton believes that the line item veto of the new balanced budget will ensure that future federal budget appropriations will benefit the public. He feels that the line item veto will safeguard the interests of the taxpayers since it gives sole authority to the president to cancel provisions which are not included in the balanced budget agreement, those that will benefit only several persons, States and companies, and those that are contradictory to public interest.
