The fun palace at Le Fresnoy, Tourcoing, France, built in 1905, has been reconstructed to house a new postgraduate art school. Architect Bernard Tschumi bested other competitors for the project's architectural design, which required a thorough evaluation of factors such as condition of existing buildings, safety regulations and the levels of sound insulation. While most of the original buildings have been retained, additional facilities were also constructed.
