A student's capability to examine information cannot be assessed with a single test and should be evaluated using a separate test for each of critical thinking's three major elements. The California Critical Thinking Dispositions Inventory provides a good appraisal of students' inclination towards learning. The Reflective Thinking Appraisal serves as a reliable measure of contemplative skills. Students' understanding of their field of study requires specialized exams.
