Taiwanese democracy under threat: impact and limit of Chinese military coercion.

The coercive tactics of China over its neighboring countries, especially Taiwan, are a result of the desire to assert its ideological position during an era when its economic growth is increasingly veering towards the Western model. The Chinese and Taiwanese governments are in a stalemate position as both have irreconcilable political ends. The US, for its part, could adopt a policy of ambiguity so as to discourage both countries from pursuing aggressive military policies against each other and its neighbors.
