Warner Bros. Online venture for TV stations fizzles. (entity called CityWeb)

It's a twist on the adage, "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em."
Warner Bros. Online, a division of Burbank-based Warner Bros., figured that the best way for television stations to recapture the segment of their audiences defecting to the Internet was to establish their own Web presence.
The division announced to much fanfare last January that it was developing an entity called CityWeb, the first network on the World Wide Web designed to give local television stations new programming opportunities online.
