Air Force Maj. Robert H. Lawrence, who is considered the nation's first Black astronaut, will finally get long overdue recognition. The Astronauts Memorial Foundation recently announced that the late astronaut will be added to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) memorial that lists the names of astronauts who have died in the line of duty.
The decision to add Lawrence's name was announced at a news conference scheduled by U.S. Rep Bobby Rush (IL) at the Adler Planetarium in Chicago.
