Anselm Franz designed the world's first mass-produced turbojet engine for Germany during the World War II, the Junkers Jumo 004. The Jumo 004 powered the Messerschmitt ME 262 fighter aircraft. It was an axial turbojet engine capable of producing 1,980 pounds of thrust. The Jumo 004 was brought from conceptual design to mass production in four years under wartime conditions and was a testament to Anselm Franz leadership and technical expertise.
