In an interview published in O Jornal de Letras, the author of a recent study of Antonio Oliveira Salazar's wartime dealings with Marshall Petain during his tenure as leader of the Vichy government asserts rather matter-of-factly that the time has come to study the period of Portugal's dictatorship (that of the so-called Estado Novo) as a historical entity.
