DALLAS--Sep. 24--When Bell Helicopter put its new civilian tilt-rotor, the 609, on display Tuesday at the National Business Aircraft Association convention, megabillionaire Warren Buffett showed up to kick the tires.

Buffett didn't hide his admiration for the 609, the civilian version of the V-22 Osprey. It's the world's first aircraft that can take off vertically and hover like a helicopter and then fly straight ahead at speeds of up to 300 mph.
