Factors affecting the adoption of open systems: an exploratory study.

From: MIS Quarterly | Date: March 1, 1997| Author: | Copyright information

A study on factors affecting the adoption of open systems was conducted to determine whether common perceptions and publicized facts about open systems have influence on their adoption. A model that incorporates factors perceived to affect the adoption was proposed. This model was empirically tested through in depth interviews with organizations. Results revealed that organizations have a tendency to focus more on their ability to adopt rather than the benefits of adoption. The organizations were more reactive than proactive in the adoptation of open systems technology.
