A través de una carta confidencial, la Santa Sede ordenó a la Conferencia del Episcopado Mexicano (CEM) "la remoción" de todos los profesores que, en los centros de formación de las congregaciones religiosas del país, impartan una "orientación marcadamente radicalizada y socializante de la teología de la liberación", y que además tengan una "vehemente inclinación contestataria".
