English dominates but it is not the only language on the World Wide Web

MOST people trawling the World Wide Web for facts and figures are cut off from the second-largest source of Internet material. This is because anybody who uses a personal computer with operating software that cannot recognise the Japanese kanji and kana scripts-and seven out of eight PCs in the world cannot-gets gobbledygook when he dials into a Japanese Web site or news group.
