The battered wireless industry is turning to high-speed Internet access as its latest savior.

MMDS operators at the industry s trade show in Anaheim, Calif., last month touted wireless' capacity to deliver Internet access at 27 megabits per second, which easily outpaces the T-1 speed of 1.5 mbps offered by the regional Bell operating companies.
