Ryan Stoa signed with the Colorado Avalanche on Friday, the 12th Gophers men's hockey player to leave the program early for the pros since the end of the 2005-06 season.
Stoa was the team captain and the WCHA scoring champion this season. In 27 conference games, the junior left winger had 19 goals and 17 assists for 36 points.
Gophers coach Don Lucia said he expected Stoa would turn pro if he had a good season, saying, "He was ready physically and mentally for the pros." The 6-3, 217 pound Stoa was selected by ...
