Former Negro Leaguer Willie Wells Sr., who shined at shortstop for 20 seasons, was recently inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame during ceremonies in Cooperstown, NY.

Accepting for the late Wells, who died of heart disease in 1989, was his daughter Stella Wells.

"He just knew that he deserved to get there sooner or later," she told the New York Times. "He'd tell people, `I may be dead, but I'll get in.'" Wells is the 14th Negro Leaguer to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
