Jerusalem has played a significant role in the establishment of the early Christian Movement by Christ's disciples, which marked the evolution of Christianity. However, the Christian perception of this significance had changed during the course of history. An analysis of events in the lives of Jesus and Paul reveals different interpretations of Jerusalem and its Temple. Jesus' act of overturning the tables in the Temple depicts Jesus as a radical reformer, and prophesies the destruction of the Temple.
