Fashion designer Donna Karan is relinquishing the position of CEO of Donna Karan International Inc. to John Idol, a Polo/Ralph Lauren L.P. executive who will assume his new job on Aug 11, 1997. Karan says the move will enable her to focus on design. Idol, whose responsibilities at Polo/Ralph Lauren included home furnishings licensing, says his preliminary plans for Donna Karan International include retail stores and an expansion of merchandise.
