Seven Dallas-area women's wear makers are scheduled today to sign a formal contractor-monitoring agreement with the Labor Department.
The voluntary agreement spells out a monitoring program for manufacturers to follow. Labor officials for several years have urged apparel makers nationwide to sign such pacts, which the agency says reduce the incidence of contractors paying workers below the federal minimum wage or otherwise violating the Fair Labor Standards Act.
