Liang Shuming's concept of 'zhijue' was based on Henri Bergson's notion of intuition, but was also influenced by Weishi (Consciousness Only) Buddhism and Confucianism. In 1921, Liang explicated the concept of 'zhijue' as the opposite of 'lizhi'(intellect), but by 1934 Liang was using 'lixing' in place of 'zhijue,' while the term 'zhijue' was virtually eliminated in Liang's later works.
