Jun. 30--Current attempts to diversify the Coachella Valley economy were central among the issues discussed at a recent conference on the region's future.

Despite the strength of the region's twin economic pillars, tourism and agriculture, the Coachella Valley must broaden its economic base, according to Jamie Sepulveda-Bailey, executive director of the Coachella Valley Economic Partnership.
