MELBOURNE, Australia, Mar. 11, 2009 (IPS/GIN) -- Fewer people are fluent in the languages found in Australia before the arrival of English. Now those languages are in danger of dying out, but one language expert is taking action in hopes of slowing the decline.
"I would say that the outlook is still pretty grim," said Paul Herbert, national manager of the Federation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Languages (FATSIL), describing the current prospects for indigenous languages.
