The President of the National Black Farmers Association threatened a massive March on Washington and constant crusading to bring relief to thousands of stricken Black farmers.
His threats became front page news and jolted Secretary of Agriculture Dan Glickman to make an immediate study.
The result of John W. Boyd, Jr. publicizing the rural plight was that he gained some benefits: for himself. He owns a farm in Baskerville, VA, in Mecklenburg County.
