Hillebrand van Kampen's exhibition was billed as "collages and paintings," but the collages were not the paper layerings one might expect. These small works were, in fact, constructed of narrow strips from a medium-size, heavily painted canvas that van Kampen cut off its stretchers in dissatisfaction and then decided to reuse.
