The planned ferry for Lake Kyoga is to cost $11m (over sh2b). Joel Omar from the Jinja-based Egyptian ship construction firm, Africans Development Incorporation, told a delegation of MPs led by John Nasasira, the works and transport minister, that a ferry costs about $10m or $11m if it is built locally.
The Africans Development Incorporation has a ship-building workshop in Masese Industrial area in Jinja.
The MPs from Busoga, Teso and Lango sub-regions were on a familiarisation tour of the workshop.
