A perfect storm of economic events has driven benzene prices down to their lowest levels in eight years. Unfortunately, buyers aren't really in need of it all that much right now.
A main cause of the declining benzene prices is the recent plunge in crude oil. Also playing a role is the recession-linked drop in demand for benzene's downstream products such as styrene, cumene, cyclohexane and aniline.
